Porcelain Care and Characteristics
For best results, the following maintenance procedures are recommended for the various finishes of our porcelain slabs.
Durability
Porcelain surfaces last longer than most other materials used for vertical and horizontal applications.
Fire Resistance
Porcelain does not burn, nor does it give off smoke or toxic fumes if it comes in contact with fire.
Water Absorption
Our porcelain slabs are highly resistant to damp, absorbing only 0.04% of water.
Resistance to Abrasion and Tread Wear Slip Resistance
Our Satin porcelain slabs or panels are as good as other flooring materials, with anti-slip factor.
Hygiene
Being hygienic and easy to clean, porcelain is recommended for all areas where high sanitary standards are a must.
Color Permanence
Direct exposure of porcelain slabs to sunlight neither alters the color nor causes them to fade.
Frost Resistance
All our porcelain slab products are suitable for outdoor laying as they are frost resistant.
Chemical Resistance
Porcelain slabs are highly resistant to chemical agents.
Thermal Shock Resistance
A properly laid porcelain slab floor will neither deform nor break in extreme temperature conditions.
Stain Resistance and Maintainability
To keep your porcelain surfaces clean, all you need to do is wash them regularly with water. Many general purpose, neutral cleaners are effective for the regular maintenance and cleaning of Porcelain slab flooring. It is important that the cleaner used has a non-oil, non-animal fat, non-soap base. Cleaners with these components may cause problems due to residues left behind in the cleaning process, which may trap dirt.
For best results, the following maintenance procedures are recommended for the various finishes of our porcelain slabs.
- Sweep, using a soft, natural-bristle broom or vacuum floor of debris.
- Saturate the surface with the recommended amount of general purpose neutral cleaner and agitate the solution. An auto-scrubber may be used.
- Allow the solution to sit on the surface a minimum of five minutes. Allowing the cleaning mixture to remain on the floor for a short period of time will increase the suspension of the dirt particles and produce a cleaner surface.
- Remove the dirty cleaning solution from the floor
- Remove excess water from the floor. Buff with dry mop or towel.
Cleaning Porcelain Countertops and Vanities
Use a ph-balanced cleaner to keep surfaces clean from everyday soils and stains.
Floor Surfaces
Vacuum or dust frequently using a clean non-treated dry dust mop. Sand, dirt and grit may scratch the surface or build-up on your grout joint leading to discoloration. Mats or area rugs inside and outside an entrance will help minimize the potential damage from these particles. Damp mop your porcelain floor with a diluted solution of neutral cleaner.
Bath and Other Wet Areas
For daily maintenance cleaning, use a neutral, ph-balanced cleaner to clean everyday soils and stains. In the bath, or other wet areas, using a squeegee after each use can help minimize this build-up.
